KPH Studio is a full service interior design firm that prides itself on expertly creating unique, practical designs reflecting a client’s individual aesthetics and lifestyle. Projects range from ground up construction and large scale remodels to simple and efficient home redesigns. We believe that exceptional design is created by open and honest dialogue with our clients as well as collaboration with architects, builders, artisans and specialists.

Principal Designer Kelly Pitcairn Holland opened KPH Studio in 2012. Kelly takes full responsibility for the creative process, managing projects large and small, and imbuing them with her sense of character and charisma. She thrives by listening to her clients’ hopes, artfully translating them into reality, using a clean combination of existing and custom furniture, antique pieces, and the work of talented craftspeople.

Kelly Holland

Kelly knew she wanted to work in interior design before she knew what interior design was. At a young age, she began to feel the emotional pull of spaces and how even subtle changes affected mood and behavior. After spending years reorganizing and redecorating her childhood home, she discovered her calling would become a career and was accepted at one of the top 10 interior design programs in the country. Steeping herself in both the art and the business of her craft, she graduated with a BA in Housing, Interior Design and Resource Management from Virginia Tech.

Quickly recruited by Mary Douglas Drysdale’s eponymous firm, Kelly began honing her drafting and drawing skills, mastering the crucial and surprisingly perceptible minutiae of fine-tuned measurements of furnishings in a space. Later, as an assistant designer for icon Thomas Pheasant, Kelly quickly took the reins of vendor relationships and worked alongside Tom to develop and present designs to high-end clients. From there, Kelly joined Lisa Vandenburgh LTD where she rose to head of interior design. Working with long-standing clients nationwide, she became a partner in their evolving lifestyles and reimagined their homes accordingly.

Bringing all of this varied experience to bear as founder of KPH Studio, Kelly works closely with architects, artisans, contractors, and craftspeople to create interiors that comfort, inspire, and communicate to her clientele. Kelly and her team have helped hundreds of clients discover their style and tell their story.

Along with Kelly’s true passion of design, she loves spending time hiking with her husband, three kids and family dog anywhere and everywhere around their home in Arlington, Virginia. If the hike involves antiquing, it’s even better.

Lauren Withers

Designer Lauren Withers joined KPH Studio in the spring of 2014. Lauren brings a sophisticated design eye and true talent for finding unique pieces. Her designs are well-balanced, drawing inspiration from the past and present by combining antiques with contemporary details and furnishings. Her philosophy is that design should be both functional and beautiful while reflecting a client’s individual style and personality.

Lauren began developing her passion for art and design at a young age inspired by the historic architecture of her home town in Pennsylvania. Lured by urban culture and access to the arts, she moved to Washington DC to pursue a degree in interior design.

After graduating from The George Washington University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Lauren spent seven years with Washington, DC Interior Design Firm Lisa Vandenburgh Ltd. where she progressed from project manager to designer working on homes all over the country. It is here that she learned how to listen to her client’s enthusiastic desires and translate them into beautifully detailed homes with elements of whimsy.

Lauren, her husband, their two young children and their pair of hound dogs live in Northwest DC with and are often spotted out and about enjoying the local food and art scene.
